The Township of Parsippany Troy-Hills is located in Morris County, New Jersey, just 30 minutes outside of New York City. The town is approximately 27 square miles with just under 60,000 residents, however during the daytime, the population rises to 250,000 to 300,000. Parsippany is about 50% residential, 20% business, 25% open area/parks/water, and 5% Interstate in terms a area usage. In the 1920's, Parsippany, Mount Tabor, Troy-Hills, Rainbow Lakes and Lake Hiawatha, along with Morris Plains, Old Boonton (now the Jersey City Reservoir), Boonton, Boonton Township, and Mountain Lakes broke away from Hanover Township (on our southern border) and became individual small towns. In 1928, present day Parsippany Troy-Hills was formed. The department serves the entire town of Parsippany as well as assisting the fire departments and rescue squads of Denville, Mountain Lakes, Randolph, Morris Township, Morris Plains, Morristown, Hanover, East Hanover, Boonton, Montville, Fairfield, as well as any other requests from any other municipalities in the NJ, NY, and PA area. Because
of the 25 plus miles of Interstate (I-80, I-280, and I-287) and the hundreds of
miles of US, state, and local highways (US 46, US 202, SR 10, SR 202, SR 53, CR
511, CR 637, CR 650, and CR 654) as well as major industrial parks, residential
areas, 2 large lakes and 13 smaller ones, 3 rivers, a major dam, bridges, forest
areas, the NJ State Psychiatric Hospital, as well as the County Police and Fire
